In my artistic endeavours, I create clay statues and engage in stop-motion animation. For this exhibition, I have chosen to craft resilient statues using polymer clay, with a profound focus on the theme of liberty. Inspired by the resilient spirit of Iranian women, these miniature works are symbolised by their hair and represent an emblem of freedom. Throughout this series, you will frequently encounter themes of isolation and solitude, expressed through a palette of somber grey tones symbolising Iran's historical detachment from the global community. The motif of hair emerges as a powerful symbol of freedom, entwined in the heart of my creations.
The technique used involves the skilful application of acrylic colours are predominantly in the hues of the Iranian flag. This choice imbues my statues with a distinct Iranian identity, reinforcing their connection to the subject matter.
My artistic journey commenced amidst the Iranian revolution where brave Iranian women fervently campaigned for their right to choose whether or not to wear the hijab. This pivotal moment has indelibly shaped the evolution of my creative expression.
Through my art, I aspire to illuminate the stark reality of Iranian women, whose natural rights have been constrained for 44 years. They yearn for the freedom to express themselves through their choice of attire, with some paying the ultimate price. Their sacrifices serve as a beacon of hope, lighting the path towards liberty for others and infusing vibrant colours into their lives.
